Johnnie Jay Thomas, age 31, of Lucerne, went to soar with the eagles Jan. 10, 2007 in Clearlake. Born in Lakeport, Johnnie was a lifelong Lake County resident.

Johnnie worked at Piedmont Lumber in the Truss Division and at Kmart as the nighttime replenishment supervisor.

Johnnie loved 4-wheeling, horror movies, Chips Ahoy cookies and anything remotely associated with comic books. He was a die-hard 49er fan. Johnnie”s Choctaw spirit often drew him to explore nature — from the hills behind Lucerne to the beaches in Fort Bragg. Johnnie loved fishing, dirt-biking, construction, playing “aggravation” and dominoes with Mom and Pops, but most of all, he loved his family. Johnnie considered himself a family man and held his wife, Aura and children, Brien, Trinity, Jade and Kayla very close to his heart. He also loved his dog Claude very much.

Always the baby of the family, Johnnie was dearly loved by all, and he will be sorely missed.

Johnnie is survived by wife, Aura Thomas of Clearlake; son, Brien Thomas of Oregon; daughter, Trinity Thomas; stepdaughters, Jade and Kayla Sanderson of Clearlake; mother and father, Verna and Roscoe Thomas of Lucerne; sister, Rose (Gary) Pifer of Lucerne; brother, Roscoe (Shelly) Thomas of Lucerne; sister, Terrie (Michael) O”Connor of San Jose; mother and father-in-law, Arlene Fox Mason and Darrell Mason of Clearlake; sisters-in-law, Omega Patterson-Fox, Terra Gwin and Nova Wilson-Fox of Clearlake; brother-in-law, Dar Wilson-Fox of Clearlake; nephews, Anthony Thomas of Lucerne, Roscoe Thomas III of Lucerne, Danny Thomas of Lucerne, Bruce Moran of Sacramento and Aaron Pifer of Lucerne; nieces, Shawnna Thomas of San Jose, Cheryl Thomas of Lucerne, Jamie O”Connor of San Jose, Samantha O”Connor of San Jose, Brandi Coogan of Rio Dell, Eva Moran of Rio Dell, Krystal Pifer of Lucerne and Jennifer Pifer of Lucerne; 10 great-nieces, two great-nephews, nine aunts and six uncles.
