Maurice W. Duensing went to his rest at home in Hidden Valley Lake on Jan. 23, 2007, from complications of colon cancer. He was 85.

He is survived by Lola, his beloved wife of 62 years and was the loving father of Nancy Cargile Williams and Clark Duensing (Marie). He is also survived by his cherished granddaughters, Cara Cargile Danner, Leanne Duensing, Katie Duensing Snell (Nic), Maggi Duensing and great-grandson, Ryan Matthew Danner. His grandson, Matthew Cargile, predeceased him. Maurice was the dear brother of Josephine Pedersen and brother-in-law of Nadine and John Coatney and was a special and much-loved uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Also known by nicknames “Clark,” “Boomer,” and “Maury,” he was born in Sunrise, Wyo., grew up in Butte County, was a graduate of Chico High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Among his many interests during his life were hunting, fishing, piloting his own plane, car racing, scuba diving and coaching track. He worked for United Airlines for 36 years, retiring to Hidden Valley in 1984. Maury and Lola also ran a small business from home for many years, selling products he invented and patented.

Boomer enjoyed travel and golf in retirement, as well as community involvement. He served on the Hidden Valley Board of Directors, Stonehouse Water Company Board, campground committee and was a participant in the Hidden Valley Lake volunteer security program.

Creative, inventive and a life-long learner, he was a loving son, husband, father, grand and great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and community member who lived by the Golden Rule. He will always be missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Hidden Valley Lake Country Club.
