The Yuba Community College District (YCCD) invites community applicants to sit on a bond oversight committee.

On Tuesday, Nov. 7, voters in the YCCD service area approved Measure J, a $190 million general obligation bond. The YCCD boundary includes all or part of eight California counties including Konocti and Middletown school districts within the County of Lake. YCCD facilities include the Clear Lake Campus in Clearlake.

At its Wednesday, Dec. 13, meeting, the YCCD governing board approved forming a citizens” bond oversight committee and urged members of the community to apply for appointment.

The committee will be charged with reviewing expenditures from Measure J funds to ensure that they meet limitations imposed by Proposition 39 and the language of Measure J. The committee must be comprised of YCCD residents.

Specifically the committee must have a minimum of seven members who represent the following categories: a business representative, an active member of a senior citizens organization, a taxpayer organization member, a YCCD student, a member of a college support organization and two members at large. Appointees cannot be employees, vendors or contractors of the YCCD.

The bond oversight committee would meet on a quarterly basis and issue regular reports of its activities and findings. The committee would report bond fund expenditures to the YCCD Board of Trustees and to the general public.

For more information or to obtain a committee application, please call the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Administrative Services, (530) 741-6800. Completed applications are due by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8.
