LAKEPORT — Former Lakeport Police officer Richard Erickson”s trial is set to start on March 27. Erickson appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded “not guilty” to all counts.

“I feel very optimistic and look forward to defending my client,” said defense attorney Don Anderson.

Erickson, an 11-year-veteran, is charged with felony misappropriation of government funds, stalking and making terrorist threats. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of violating a restraining order. Erickson has pleaded innocent to all counts.

According to testimony given during the past three days, Erickson attended to personal business while on duty, which included having sex in his police car, and used company time to work on his home.

“The fact that Erickson was a police officer will not effect the way I prosecute this case,” said Prosecutor Rachel Abelson.
