What is the definition of a life well lived? Though we can no longer ask Lucerne resident Alice P. Dudley in person, because she passed on to her next great adventure on Feb. 9, 2007 at the age of 105, her answer would have been simple?dedicate your life to service in the Cause of God. Alice P. Dudley was born on Sept. 11, 1901 on a fjord near Aalesund, Norway. She began her residence in San Francisco, California in 1904, shortly before the 1906 earthquake shook things up. Alice has been shaking things up ever since. A member of the Bah?”? Faith since 1939, Mrs. Dudley has traveled the world sharing the principles of Bah?”u”ll?h, its prophet founder.

Her teaching travels began in San Francisco, then Fargo, North Dakota, Columbia, South Carolina, and Washington D.C. followed by Sweden, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Poland, France, Turkey, Finland, Australia, The Fiji Islands, England, Scotland, Wales, India, Iran, Samoa, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Estonia, the Caribbean Islands and Canada as well as Hong Kong, Mexico and New Zealand, just to name a few.

She has long attested that the greatest highlight of her life was her pilgrimage to Haifa, Israel, where she visited the Bah?”? World Center and met with the Guardian of the Bah?”? Faith, Shoghi Effendi, in 1957 shortly before his passing. She wrote a book about her life entitled, “Unfinished Journey?Recollections of a life devoted to serving the Bah?”? Faith.” Mrs. Dudley moved to Lakeport in 1985 to assist in forming the first Local Spiritual Assembly in Lake County. Mother, grandmother, teacher, author, servant, and friend, Alice leaves a legacy of service to God and humanity, the definition of a life well lived.
