PITTSBURG — Unable to hold a seven-point lead down the stretch, the Mendocino College women”s basketball team ended its season with a 63-60 loss to Los Medanos College on Friday night in Pittsburg.

A win would have given the Eagles (5-7, 8-21) a .500 Bay Valley Conference record, but poor foul shooting and a handful of key turnovers in the final minutes ended that hope.

“We were 3-for-13 (from the line) down the stretch,” Mendocino College coach Stan Weiper said.

Kyra Platte had a team-high 21 points to go along with nine rebounds for the Eagles. Katie Stiles added 12 points and Kristen Andre pulled down 15 rebounds and blocked three shots.

“We couldn”t quite put it away,” Weiper added.
