I thought I should at least acknowledge Roger Nelson”s rebuttal (Jan. 16, 2007 Lake County Record-Bee) to my wish that the nation, and especially our political leaders, would stop publicly undermining our president and our war effort against global terrorism.
I strongly feel that such activity emboldens the enemy and makes a tough job even more difficult for our troops. However, Mr. Nelson is certainly in the majority; that is sad. They admit there are radical Muslims worldwide hell-bent to take us down. However, rather than complete our effort in Iraq, they want to give up and leave them be. Or, one would guess, they are ok with letting these extremists openly join forces with Iran and move the battle back over here.
One would also guess that although they like to play the no-WMD card against our president, they have to know that these enemies have or can get WMD and will sooner or later use them against us.
So, after they stop this “unjust war”, they probably will dig bomb shelters as they prefer to play defense over offense. Then all the Pelosi freedom fighters can get together in the shelters, pray for peace, and tip a few cocktails.
I remain on the side of those that continue on the path to victory, the price of defeat is too high.
