UPDATED:

I recently watched all 26 episodes of Victory At Sea, an NBC documentary of World War II. The series documents the Japanese and Nazi buildup to their war of world domination and chronicles the sacrifices of the free world to defeat them.

The contrast of the World War II Allied efforts to remain free and our feeble resistance to radical Islam struck me. World War II America united in its fight against Axis plans to subjugate the world. No sacrifice was too large. Today we are anything but united despite the plainly articulated radical Islamic goal to impose Sharia law upon all people of the world.

Our military is too small because it isn”t politically acceptable to expand our military. Our politicians seek political advantage by downplaying real threats and by emphasizing our military”s every misstep. Political correctness spawns military rules of engagement that tie our military”s hands behind its back.

In World War II, if resistance came from a town it was leveled. Today, we force our military to fight door to door and moan about our casualties. Our politicians promote the “rights” of captured fighters and the rights of Jihadists in our midst to be free from government spying on them. Our politicians won”t even agree to secure our borders.

Abraham Lincoln said, “A house divided against itself cannot stand.” America is a house divided in our struggle against radical Islam. If we remain divided we will be defeated, not just in Iraq and Afghanistan, but as a civilization.
