Those on the left of the political spectrum are called “bleeding hearts.”

There is no doubt that if Joshua (Christ) was alive today and remained temporarily unidentifiable so as to expose hypocrisy, he would be called a “bleeding heart” by conservative extremists who despise idealists and associate love with weakness and compassion with immorality.

Those on the right of the political spectrum claim to have a monopoly on morality, courage, patriotism and any and all values, even thought they opposed the civil rights movement in the 60s, and any other popular movement meant to improve the lot of the common man and woman, thus identifying with the elite to the point of total blindness and, out of fear for anything that could make this republic live up to its ideal, to empower the real people.

Yet the left and the right, while bitterly dividing this nation, have so much in common: both assume the power and authority to enforce their respective ideologies through the government with an ever expanding bureaucracy, ever more laws, less actual power and freedoms left to the people, and ever more privileges for the elite.

Let”s hope that climate change is real and brings all the governments of the world to their knees. Perhaps nature alone will be able to, indeed, restore balance by humbling the arrogant.
