In response to the letters sent in regarding drivers driving the speed limit, tailgaters, roadhogs, etc., driving the roads of Lake County, I certainly hope you are referring to Highway 29, Highway 20, and Highway 53. I have an issue with those driving in a posted 25, 35, or 45 mph zone.
There you will find tailgaters wanting to drive faster than the posted speed limit. The reason these are posted are due to the neighborhood, children, driveways, walkers, bicyclists, crosswalks, etc. I have seen drivers speeding down Lakeshore Blvd. in North Lakeport with disregard to the posted speed of 35 mph. We have also had cars and motorcyclists cross over the double line or pass on the right to pass someone going the posted speed limit.
I also have tailgaters and pushers going down Main St. in Lakeport. Try to find a parking space and park with someone right on your bumper — give us a break, people. Some people really like to look at the downtown area and are looking for a business to shop at; I”m sure the businesses would appreciate your giving people a break to be able to park safely. Since we seem to be getting more people moving to Lake County we have a problem with our access roads, they were not constructed to handle the amount of traffic we are now getting. There are few arterial roads and side roads to take to get anywhere. You must take the main streets around Lake County and in Lakeport and Clearlake.
If you are still driving as you would in the big cities my suggestion is to either adjust to the slower-paced life here or go back to the big cities to get your anger management taken care of. Until we get our roads taken care of maybe we should have a moratorium on cars like we do on our water and sewer hookup?
