LAKEPORT — North Lakeport resident James Douglas Brown was arrested Saturday not once, but twice on charges stemming from domestic violence.

Lake County Sheriff”s Deputies were dispatched to Brown”s home at approximately 10:35 a.m. when his wife Eileen Shea called to report spousal abuse. Brown was arrested at 11 a.m. for domestic violence. LCSO Lt. Cecil Brown said he had arranged to post the $1,000 bail and was released by 1:45 p.m.

Lt. Cecil Brown said deputies were again dispatched to the home at 2:30 p.m. when the homeowners who rented to the couple reported threatening voicemail in which James Douglas Brown reportedly threatened to harm the homeowners and cause damage to their property.

James Douglas Brown was not in his home at the time, and a search of the area yielded no luck. Lt. Pat McMahon said deputies left instructions to call 911 if Brown returned, which he did later in the day.

Deputies arrived on the scene for the third time at 5:05 p.m. “When responding deputies got there they could hear him inside the house and heard crashing sounds,” said Lt. McMahon. They entered the couple”s home and arrested James Douglas Brown at approximately 5:15 p.m. for threatening a crime with intent to terrorize. Deputies found furniture overturned and the home in disarray.

James Douglas Brown is in custody with bail set at $100,000. Superior Court Judge David Herrick granted LCSO deputies” request to granted an enhancement to the charges for which he was arrested and authorized a protective order for Shea.

“He proved through his own actions that there was a propensity toward violence,” said Sheriff Rod Mitchell. “To threaten someone at any point is significant, but to threaten someone while out on bail for a violent offense is indicative of a need to seek an enhancement that would protect the public.”

James Douglas Brown was scheduled for arraignment on Monday.
