LAKEPORT — Greg Gutierrez, the Red Bluff fire captain, held on to his lead following the second round in the Bassmasters Elite Series Golden State Shootout on Friday at Clear Lake.

Gutierrez weighed in 33 pounds, 13 ounces on Friday, which added to his Thursday weight of 32 pounds, 13 ounces gives him a total of 66 pounds, 10 ounces. That weight puts him on track to break the all-time national Bassmasters record of 115 pounds 15 ounces for a four-day tournament.

In second place is Kelly Jordan of Mineola, Texas, with 55 pounds, 11 ounces. Skeet Reese of Auburn is third with 54 pounds, 5 ounces.

The big fish of the tournament after two days weighed 12 pounds, 11 ounces and was caught on Friday by Jeff Reynolds of Idabel, Oklahoma.

It took a two-day weight of 41 pounds, 11 ounces to finish in the top 50 in the pro division and make the cut for today”s third round. Only the top 12 pros will advance to Sunday”s final round.

In the co-angler division, Jim White of West Lake Village leads the pack with 56 pounds, 9 ounces. He is followed by local fishing guide Bob Myskey of Nice with 45 pounds, 14 ounces.

Among other Lake County fishermen in the field, Jared Stone of Lakeport is in 28th place with 31 pounds, 11 ounces, and William Becker of Lucerne is in 43rd place with 30 pounds, 2 ounces.

The co-angler field also was cut to the top 50 after Friday”s round and they close things out today, leaving the lake on Sunday to the pros.

The weigh-in both today and Sunday starts at 3 p.m. in Library Park in Lakeport.
