Once again Mr. Wicks has shown a lack of understanding of this country and it”s Constitution. The protesting that is going on now is not against our form of government. The protesting is against the current leadership and all the errors it has foisted on this country and the rest of the world. The majority of this country said that in last November”s election. We don”t like the direction we are being led!
If we use Mr. Wicks analogy that what the minority says doesn”t matter until the next election then in his words listening to him isn”t necessary and he should be quiet until then. However that is an un-American thing to ask of him.
The Constitution does not allow “forcing” an opinion on anyone unless that opinion is made into a law. What the Bill of Rights allows is our freedom of speech within the parameters of common sense. We don”t have to listen or read other people”s opinions. Listening or reading other people”s opinions is a very good way to learn how this country thinks.
Listening to young adults is very important because they have just been taught about our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Even when I was working and young people were hired out of school it was good to listen to them because their minds are fresh and full of new ideas. Even though I am older and have a lot of experience in certain areas I always try to listen to new ideas. Just because young adults are “young” doesn”t mean they are “playing politics.”
In this country we can listen and learn or not. It is our choice. Age is NOT the deciding factor!
