George Clayton Neal, age 90, of Irvington, died Thursday, March 29, 2007. He was the widower of Irma R. Neal, who preceded him in death in 1999. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel with 29 years service. Mr. Neal, an airplane navigator, was a World War II Prisoner of War and also served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. During his early military career, he served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Air Corps. Mr. Neal was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock and the Hartley Masonic Lodge # 199 A.F. & A.M. of Lakeport, and Shrine Club. He was an active member of the U.S. Air Force Association # 243 in Richmond and the Military Officer”s Association.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Clayton E. and Susan Neal of Saluda; daughter and son-in-law, Katherine N. and Glenn Dunlap of Terra Haute, Ind.; five grandchildren, Kate and Andrew Neal, Page Mangum, Chance and George Dunlap; six great grandchildren; brother, Charles Neal of Kelseyville; and sister, Betty Deacon of Bremerton, Wash.

Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury, Irvington, Va.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held 3 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
