Thanks for printing William Rusher”s counter political bias in the article on “Global Warming Hysterics Again.” In addressing half truths by the “Inventor of the Internet,” Al Gore that the Earth is cooking itself to death because of humans, Rusher injects omissions, flaws and faults of over zealous PhD”s seeking money for lifetime environmental studies.
As a meteorologist I have limited experience in the Department of Defense for Research and Development (Satellite Meteorology / Environment) with some on-site qualifications in parts of the Artic, Iceland, Canada, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, Mediterranean Sea, and both coasts of the USA.
It seems that Mr. Gore, like a number of my fellow Democrats, assume that only their way has any merit. Participation on committees with a vice president, senators, representatives, NASA, NOAA and officials of other foreign countries leads me to believe that more factual scientific data are yet to be fully developed. I attended the International Ice Conference in Iceland in the early 70s where some of these very same PhD”s were forecasting an Ice Age. Polar Bears would be invading Iceland.
After retiring I attended a Environmental Conference of Scientists at Konocti Harbor Inn where they were discussing why acid rain was increasing in Northeastern USA. I injected that parts of a High Resolution Meteorological Satellite (RHMS) program had been partially declassified.
In viewing some of that material I was able to evaluate that after the factories in the Northeast had been relocated and expanded to the Southeast that weather wind pattern”s were taking the acid particles from these new Southeastern factories Northward and over the Northeast areas as before. Other than obtaining cheaper labor the movement of those factories did little to solve the problem of acid rain.
Rusher”s carefully couched article, if rationally interpreted, did not appear to deviated from available fact. As one who has served on committees to select and fund environmental research projects Rusher is in the ball park. “PhD”s like politicians tend to cry wolf to obtain more funding (tax dollars).”
Scientists like Mr. Gore tend to under evaluate the “K” factor (unknown concepts) in deriving their mathematical environmental global warming forecasting solutions. Some say that the unknown “K Factors are actually more of a “J” Factor (Jesus Factor). Tweaking the outcomes one way.
