KELSEYVILLE — Middletown”s No. 1 doubles team of Chris Whiting and Andrew Rotter beat Kelseyville”s Stuart Davy and Luke Kriken in the match of the day and the visiting Mustangs upset the defending Coastal Mountain Conference champions 3-2 in tennis action at Kelseyville.
Whiting and Rotter defeated Davy and Kriken 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, the only match to go the full three sets.
“It was a battle,” Kelseyville coach Jeff McLaren said.
Another thriller came in No. 1 singles where Kelseyville”s Keith Hulsey outlasted Middletown”s Will Phelps 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).
In other action, Mid-dletown”s Tyler Madsen beat Nancy Tannous 6-1, 6-1 in No. 2 singles and Middletown”s Aaron Turner knocked off Jill Bailey 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) in No. 3 singles.
Kelseyville won in No. 2 doubles as David Van Buskirk and Evan Carpenter beat Zoe Everett and Jeanine Zolczynski 6-1, 6-1.
In exhibition doubles play, Kelseyville”s Ryne Thorup and Brooks Thor-up defeated Tasha Gibbs and Ben MacDonald 6-1, 6-2.
