PETALUMA — Bouncing back from an 11-3 loss to Cardinal Newman High School of Santa Rosa earlier in the day, the Clear Lake junior varsity baseball team beat Ukiah 7-5 Tuesday afternoon to clinch third place in the Frank Wright Invitational at McNear Park in Petaluma.
Alan Moses pitched six innings for the victory as Clear Lake improved to 12-3 on the season. He allowed three hits, struck out four and walked four.
Aaron Marshall went 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Christian Coddington went 3-for-3 to spark the Clear Lake offense. Ryan Richardson added two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs, and Bryan Strate went 2-for-4.
Earlier Tuesday against Cardinal Newman, the Cardinals” committed six errors to their opponent”s none and paid the price as Newman turned a close game into a rout.
Both teams had eight hits. Coddington and Richardson each had two hits for Clear Lake. Coddington also tripled and drove in a run.
Clear Lake opens its North Central League I South schedule on Tuesday in St. Helena at 4 p.m.
