A Kelseyville man was caught dumping his green waste illegally in Clearlake on Tuesday, April 3.
Clearlake Police officers caught the man red-handed, allegedly pulling green waste from a pickup truck and dumping it on private property. Joel Kerr, 27, of Kelseyville was cited for trespassing on posted land and for unauthorized waste dumping.
According to a press release issued by the Clearlake Police Department (CPD), dispatch received a call reporting that a man in a pickup truck pulling a trailer was in the process of illegally dumping on private property.
CPD officers Carl Miller and Mike Ray responded to a location on Eastlake Drive in the Clearlake Park area. Upon their arrival, they allegedly witnessed a male subject ? later identified as Kerr ? pulling green waste from the pickup truck and illegally dumping it.
Officers contacted Kerr, who reportedly stated that he was hauling a load of yard waste from his residence in Kelseyville to the Southlake County landfill in Clearlake when he decided to save $10 by dumping his waste in a remote location, figuring he wouldn”t get caught.
After counseling Kerr and making him pick up the waste he had already dumped, Officer Miller issued citations for trespassing on posted land and for unauthorized dumping. No further actions were reportedly taken.
Prior to this incident, the press release states, Clearlake Code Enforcement has investigated several illegal dump sites within the City of Clearlake.
Since Feb. 29, three other dump sites have been voluntarily cleaned up by the parties responsible for the illegal dumping due to the results of investigations conducted by Code Enforcement officers.
