The letter to the editor by Selena Canale (Record-Bee, April 10) is full of contradictions.

If kids are a minority (They are not: they are the biggest market and targeted by advertising for this very reason.), how could the kids of the 1960s have created the “the mess we”re in today”?

There is a mess indeed, but is has been created by people in power, not by people who challenge power, such as the youth.

It must be strange to feel so patriotic and so proud of American “rights, liberties and freedom”, while in the same breath wishing that those who disagree with the so called “majority” remain silent and obedient, like puppies, and do not exercise their freedom.

At least the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is consistent: it goes as far as defending the right of Neo-Nazi degenerates to parade in the streets with their offending insignias, because the ACLU defends the right of all people to exercise free speech, unlike the very insecure and intolerant right wing.

Lastly, if the war in Iraq is common sense, then I would hate to see what insanity looks like!
