SANTA ROSA — Stuart Hall of San Francisco shut out the Upper Lake Cougars 9-0 in the consolation championship game of the Rincon Valley Baseball Tournament on Friday in Santa Rosa.

The game was moved from Saturday to Friday because of rain forecast for the weekend. Upper Lake beat another San Francisco team, Drew High School, 9-3 earlier Friday in the consolation semifinals.

The Cougars (7-6) managed just a pair of hits against Stuart Hall, singles by Jayce Meri and Joe Barnes.

Upper Lake fared much better against Drew as Steven Andre worked all seven innings for the victory, scattering five hits, striking out eight and walking none. He also went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI.

Jon Carrera went 3-for-3 and Joey Ogulin went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Upper Lake, which padded its 1-0 lead with a five-run fourth.

In a first-round game Thursday, Rincon Valley Christian scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to go in front 10-8, then held on in the top of the seventh as the Cougars scored their final run.

Upper Lake out-hit Rin-con Valley 17-9. Billy Binns went 4-for-4, Max Curtis went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Carrera went 3-for-4.

Curtis, who worked the final four innings in relief of Ogulin, took the loss.
