Are those who question the war in Iraq still on the fringe?

Perhaps it is too much to hope that Bush and his cohorts denying to the bitter end all the sorrow and terror they have unleashed on the world will acknowledge their deceptions. And now Mr. Wicks in his letter (Record-Bee, March 22) continues with the same distortions and misrepresentations. Shades of that old joke, don”t bother me with facts.

Taking our young people to task for questioning their government about an illegal war, and especially Mr. Kiczenski who has taken a gallant stand against lies that his government has perpetuated. It appears that young men and women such as Mr. Kiczenski can die in an unlawful war, but they are not allowed to ask “What” they are fighting for and “Why” they are fighting?

Once again for those who have not been completely brainwashed, 17 of the highjackers who flew into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon that horrendous day were, I repeat, were Saudi Arabians. So by that rationale, we should have invaded Saudi Arabia. But the more discerning citizen knows why, don”t we?

Mr. Wicks doesn”t seem to realize that “fringe” group he refers to is now in command of both houses in Washington after recently “thumping” Bush. And that, more than 60 percent of the American people now believe that Iraq occupation was a colossal mistake. That hardly appears to me like a “fringe,” Mr. Wicks.

At the risk of sounding overzealous, what ever happened to Osama Bin Laden? And was there ever a concerted effort to find him such as the “shock and awe” invasion of Iraq to find Saddam Hussein? Could it have something to do with Bush”s close ties to the Laden family?

I can promise Mr. Wicks and those still in self-denial that some of us are determined to find the answers on Capitol Hill, on our Internets, in public meetings, and on the streets such as the protests that have begun throughout this country. Mr. Wicks can vent his displeasure all he likes, but as the great French writer, Emile Zola, stated about the Dreyfus affair “Truth is on the march”.
