LAKEPORT — A fitness hearing for two of the three minors arrested for the stabbing of 19-year-old Alex Larranaga was continued Monday to April 30.
Mathew Domeier, 16, and Juan Yepez, 17, are two of the five total suspects in custody for the March 16 stabbing, which took place in full view of patrons at the neighboring lakefront restaurant TNT On the Lake.
All five young men arrested for the alleged stabbing are charged with three felony counts apiece, with three enhancements adding more potential jail time. The charges are premeditated attempted murder, aggravated mayhem and active participation in a criminal street gang. The enhancements include two criminal gang allegations and one for personally inflicting great bodily injury.
Yepez and Domeier appeared in court as scheduled on Monday. Their cases were continued because Santa Rosa defense attorney Roy Miller, who is now representing Yepez, needed more time to prepare. Public Defender Stephen Carter was appointed to represent Domeier, and requested the same continuance so the two cases could be heard congruently, according to prosecuting Deputy District Attorney Gary Luck.
