Red”s Construction”s Mariners (3-0) is holding tight to its perfect record in Southshore Little League major division standings. The Mariners enjoyed another victory last week over Redbud Community Hospital”s Cardinals (1-2). The Mariners put the game away, 14-3.

Jake Peters pitched a strong game for the Mariners, striking out 13 and allowing three hits through five innings of play. Jon Duncan, Abe Gonzalez and Thaddeus Wetmore combined for the Cardinals, giving up 10 hits and striking out nine.

The Mariners were explosive at the plate with Brandon Thomas going 3×4 with two triples, a double, 4 RBIs and three runs scored. Rounding out the Mariners” hitting parade was Chris Carpenter who went 2×4 and JoJo Logue who also went 2×4 with a sacrifice RBI and one run scored. The Cardinals” offense was led by Duncan who had a smoking double to the left field fence. Wetmore had a triple.

Mendo Mill”s Athletics moved to 2-2 in major division standings with a shut-out win over Dr. Eagle”s Animal Hospital”s Giants (1-3). Richard Tucker and Zef Roofener pitched for the Athletics, allowing five hits and striking out six. Tony Fonseca and Daniel Eagle took the mound for the Giants, allowing three hits and striking out nine. Tucker went 2×3 with two RBIs for the Athletics; and Ben Illia went 2×3 for the Giants.

The Giants had better luck in its second face-off against the Athletics, posting a 12-2 victory. Eagle and Fonseca combined on the mound for the Giants again; this time around they struck out 10 and allowed only four hits. Roofener and Josh McCarty combined for the Athletics, striking out 10 and allowing nine hits. For the Giants, Talle Jones went 2×5; Eagle went 2×4 with two RBIs and two runs scored; and VJ Lopez went 1×4 with a double and two RBIs. Jesse Green went 2×3 for the Athletics; while McCarty went 1×2 on a double and Emanuel Simms went 1×1.

The Cardinals enjoyed a win earlier in the week, posting a 4-3 victory over the Giants. Gonzalez was outstanding on the mound, striking out 13 for the Cardinals and allowing only one hit. Jones, Eagle and Fonseca pitched for the Giants, striking out 11 and also allowed only one hit.

In Minor League action Sanders Construction”s Mets beat Jim Jonas, Inc.”s Cubs, 15-4; Freedom Heating & Air”s Devil Rays beat the Mets, 8-4; Salmina”s Floor to Ceiling”s Angels beat the Mets, 9-6; and the Cubs tied the Devil Rays at 7-7.

In Junior Division action, Lakeshore Lions” Dodgers beat JT Photography”s Blue Jays, 18-1; and Food, Etc.”s Reds pulled off a 10-9 victory over PSI World”s White Sox.
