The Sierra Club Lake Group hosted a StepItUp rally, Saturday, April 14, at Austin Park in Clearlake. It was part of a “National Day of Climate Action,” promoted by the Step It Up campaign, to reduce global-warming emissions. In the photo, local electric car manufacturer Peter Senkowsky, third from left, explains the benefits of the “Hennings” model to onlookers District 3 Supervisor Denise Rushing, County Administrator Kelly Cox and Clearlake resident Dante DeAmicis. Hennings, a Hyde Park speaker whose viewpoints attracted negative feedback, would use his car as a speaking platform. When listening crowds became unruly, he would close the top of the car and drive away.
