An Earth Day celebration took place Saturday, April 21, in Austin Park in Clearlake. Participants were undeterred by a spring drizzle thanks to sunshades that were set up to shelter the exhibitors. Elliot Naess demonstrated his “Pear County Chopper,” a kinetic sculpture that relies upon human “pedal power” and can be driven on both land and water. The kinetic sculpture races that Naess organizes each year have become a fixture of the Redbud Parade; watch for more information as the Independence Day celebration draws closer.
