Allison Gibbs must be a young adolescent and very angry to hold such na?ve and murderous sentiments about Islam. It is unfortunately on such simplistic yet widespread xenophobic perceptions that some of our leaders are counting to be given the mandate to implement their Machiavellian agendas.
The Iraqis had nothing to do with Sept. 11. Saddam Hussein, supported and armed by the United States for decades as were so many other murderous and sadistic tyrants, became a villain only when he ceased to do as he was told by Washington and decided to overtake Saudi oil and nationalize the Iraqi oil industry, not when he bathed his political enemies in acid.
However he was always a secular leader and a socialist, not a religious fanatic, and was apparently considered an enemy and heretic by Al Quada. The Iraqis did not ask America to be “shocked and awed” and to be made to flee their decimated country because of a civil war.
The argument of the “right of conquest” is old and it is grotesque to hear it in 2007.Might has never made right, and has only temporarily elevated nations which remained doomed because they are without moral foundation.
In the name of this ignorance and hate, millions have been decimated through the ages, while average citizens approved of genocide as long as they did not have to do the dirty work or count the bodies.
