* An annual burn ban, addressing seasonal concerns over fire hazard and air quality, starts on Tuesday, May 1. The ban restrictions apply to all areas within the county, although exceptions may be issued for agricultural operations if the proposed burn is safe and economically essential. To obtain an exemption, you must first contact your local fire protection agency. You must additionally contact the Lake County Air Quality Management District. Fire season restrictions will remain in effect until it is lifted by the Lake County Board of Supervisors (acting upon recommendation by Lake County fire chiefs), or until the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection declares an end to the fire season.
