Lower Lake High School boys JV baseball team recently enjoyed two wins, including its league opener against Middletown on Tuesday, April 17.
The Trojans beat the Middletown Mustangs 8-6 with Stephen Whitcomb taking the win on the mound. Whitcomb pitched an impressive game, striking out seven and walking two. He also went 3×3 at the plate with one stolen base and two RBIs.
Curtis Eeds and Eddie Sears also contributed to the victory. Eeds went 2×4 on a triple and double and Sears went 1×2 with two stolen bases.
Coach Garren Hanon commended the defensive efforts of Sears. “He made a wonderful heads-up double play,” said Hanon. “It was great. These guys really hustled and won their league opener against Middletown.”
On Friday, April 13, the Trojans exploded at the plate and beat Cloverdale, 17-10. “Everyone had at least two or more hits,” said Coach James Rivas. “They did really good.”
Rivas added, “Stephen Whitcomb pitched an excellent game and went the distance for the win.”
The Trojans offense was led by Angel Macias who went 4×6 on a double and three singles. Thomas Biasotti went 3×6 on three singles; Eddie Sears went 3×6 with a double and a triple.
Rounding out the Trojan offense was Whitcomb 3×6; Brad King 3×6; Chris Sisco 3×5; George Novak 3×4; and Curtis Eeds 2×6. David Parks reportedly had some hits, too.
The Trojans” record stands at 1-0 in league and 4-4 overall.
