UPDATED:

In the March 28 issue of the Record-Bee, there was an article concerning the Cristallago Resort housing development in north Lakeport.

In this article one of the developers, Matt Boeger, speaks glowingly about the progress that is being made in the effort to move this project forward. The implication is that all of the County”s building and environmental issues are being dealt with and are not a cause for concern. The only problem is that much of what was implied is not true.

The article implies that the Cristallago developers had met with the local Sierra Club and had addressed their environmental concerns. Yet a few days later a “Letter to the Editor” from the President of our local Sierra Club stated that this was not true. The truth is that this article was just a slick piece of P.R. put out by the developers in an effort to convince the people of Lakeport that this project is something it is not.

This project is a perfect example of outside developers coming into a rural area, buying relatively cheap land, and trying to overwhelm the locals with promises of big money and quick profits at the expense of sound community planning and environmental concerns. How many of you are aware that Mr. Boeger is also involved in the project to build a golf course just a few miles down the road at the junction of Highways 29 and 175?

How many golf courses do these people think the Lakeport area needs? We all know that growth is coming to Lake County, but will we control it or will it control us?
