KELSEYVILLE — They”re teammates on the volleyball court in the fall, teammates on the basketball court in the winter, and teammates on the tennis court in the spring.

It”s pretty hard to split up the Kelseyville High School tandem of seniors Jill Bailey and Lauren Nixon, who added one final line to their remarkable high school athletic resumes on Tuesday by winning the girls” double title at the Coastal Mountain Conference Championships at Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa.

Bailey and Nixon defeated Sage Conlon and Morgan Thompson of St. Vincent 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 in the championship match. Earlier Tuesday they beat Sidney Frazer and Laura Essayah of Anderson Valley 6-1, 6-0 in the semis.

In other action Tuesday at Konocti Harbor:

Boys” singles

Miguel Orozco of St. Vincent won the boys” singles title, beating Middletown”s Will Phelps 6-0, 6-4.

Phelps advanced to the finals with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over John Kreiger of Cloverdale. Orozco beat Kelseyville”s Keith Hulsey 6-2, 6-3 in the other semifinal.

Girls” singles

Fernanda Orozco, sister of boys” singles champion Miguel, gave the Orozco family a second title by beating Clear Lake”s Veronica Fretias 6-2, 6-2 in the girls” singles championship.

Orozco beat another Lake County player, Kelseyville”s Nancy Tannous, 6-1, 6-1 in the semifinals. Freitas advanced to the finals with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Cloverdale”s Kyla Cacace.

Boys” doubles

Tyler Grinberg and Brad Jonas of Mendocino won the boys” doubles title with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Willits” Brett Snyder and Merlin Rinehardt.

Middletown”s Chris Whiting and Andrew Rotter fell 6-2, 7-5 to Snyder-Reinhardt in the semifinals.

The CMC Championships opened on Monday. Semifinals and finals took place Tuesday.

Winners of the boys” singles and doubles titles will represent the CMC at next week”s North Coast Section Championships.

The Record-Bee will print the All-CMC team next week.
