Mendo Mill Athletics enjoyed a special win recently against the Redbud Community Hospital Cardinals. Richard Tucker pitched an incredible game for the As and dedicated the win to his father, who has been diagnosed with cancer and has been unable to watch Tucker play this season.

Tucker pitched 4 1/3 innings for the As, striking out 10 and allowing just one hit, leading his team to a 5-2 victory. After the contest, the game ball was signed by both teams and given to Tucker”s father, Richard Tucker, Sr.

Tucker went 1×3 on a triple and had two RBIs; Zef Roofener went 2×3 on a triple and a single; Johnny Roofener went 2×3; and Jesse Green, who finished up on the mound with two strike outs, went 1×3. Pitching for the Cardinals was Tony Fonseca and Talle Jones, who combined for seven strike-outs and six hits.

Red”s Construction Mariners maintains its perfect record at 4-0 in the season. The Mariners shut out Dr. Eagle”s Animal Hospital Giants 5-0. Jake Peters and JoJo Logue combined to allow only two hits while striking out 12 for the Mariners. The Mariners” offensive was led by Brandon Thomas who went 2×2; Jared Thompson went 1×1, Dylan Thomas went 1×2; and Jake Peters went 2×3 on a triple and single. For the Giants, Talle Jones went 1×3 and Daniel Eagle went 1×3.

In Junior League action, the Lakeshore Lions Dodgers beat the Food Etc. Reds, 24-2 and the PSI World White Sox beat the JT Photography Blue Jays, 8-4.

In Minor League action, Salmina Floor to Ceiling Angels beat the Freedom Heating & Air Devil Rays, 7-1; Sanders Construction Mets beat Jim Jonas, Inc. Cubs, 11-10; and the Angels beat the Cubs, 11-3.

Softball League action saw the Cecil”s Take & Bake Pizza Heat beat the P&L Auto Body Bandits, 24-5; Konoctees Riptide beat the Cactus Grill Racers, 30-3; the Heat beat the Turner Insulation Armadillos, 18-7; the Racers beat the Armadillos, 14-5; Riptide beat the Bandits, 14-9; the Racers beat the Bandits, 15-12; the Heat beat Riptide, 4-2; the Armadillos beat the Bandits, 12-11; and Riptide beat the Racers, 12-2.

Southshore Little League will host “A Day of Fun for Everyone” 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at Redbud Ballpark in Clearlake. The league invites the entire family for an outdoor day of fun. Activities will include games and prizes, face painting, food and barbecue, vendor booths, raffles, dunk tank, bouncy houses and more. Bring the family and plan to have some fun. All proceeds raised help support the league.
