A tragic vehicle collision that occurred Saturday, April 28, in Clearlake Oaks has left one young girl fighting for her life. Kayleigh Allen, 14, remains in critical condition in Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
The community is being called upon for help in covering costs associated with Allen”s medical treatment. A trust fund has been established at Westamerica Bank. Contributions may be made to Leona Allen, Trust Fund for Kayleigh Allen Medical Fund, No. 2353151737.
Allen, 14, of Clearlake Oaks, suffered major injuries in the single-vehicle collision. “Her injuries are too long to list,” said Ryan Bridges, boyfriend to Allen”s mother, Leona. Along with massive head trauma that has kept young Allen in a coma since the incident, she”s also suffered several injuries that will leave her physically impaired for the rest of her life. “She”s never going to be the same,” Bridges added.
The Clear Lake area California Highway Patrol reported that at 12:39 p.m. April 28, a 2004 red Pontiac was headed west on State Route 20 just east of Beryl Way when, for an unknown reason, the driver was unable to negotiate a left curve in the roadway. The vehicle left the north edge of the roadway and the driver”s side of the vehicle hit a retaining wall — crushing the passenger compartment.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Vicki Jo Fournier, 49, of Clearlake Oaks, was pronounced dead at the scene. Allen and another passenger, Michelle R. Riedele, 45, of Clearlake Oaks, sustained major injuries and were flown to Santa Rosa by REACH.
Leona Allen has been waiting patiently by her daughter”s side hopeful for any improvement. Contributions to the trust fund will allow Allen”s mother to continue to remain by her side as well as assist with covering medical costs.
