Arbor Education and Training Youth Support Coordinator Gina Dickson has been practicing her pucker on a plush little porker as she remains in hot pursuit of her chance to Kiss-A-Pig. Dickson said she”s kissed her share of pigs in her life but this time it”s for charity.

Dickson is campaigning in support of the Lake County Youth Center and if she earns the right to Kiss-A-Pig, local youth will enjoy the benefits.

“Children are the most important members of our community they are our future,” Dickson said. “As we guide and shape them, we guide and shape our future.”

The Kiss-A-Pig contest, sponsored by the Lakeport Regional Chamber of Commerce, will award a cash prize to the winner”s choice among Lake County non-profit organizations. “Youth services are really needed within our community, so if we win we will be donating the $1000 cash prize to the Lake County Youth Center,” Dickson reported.

Dickson is an active member of the community and was recently appointed to the Clearlake Planning Commission. She recognizes a need for community involvement not only by individuals but by communities as a whole.

“The Kiss-A-Pig contest is such a creative way to raise funds for Lake County non-profit organizations,” Dickson said. “Clearlake is very under represented in county functions and we wanted our city to be a part of this event. If we win, it will be great for our children, but if we don”t, it”s been a lot of fun just participating.”

The Kiss-A-Pig contest will culminate with winners in several divisions crowned on Saturday, May 19 at the Lake County Fairgrounds. The event will include an old fashioned barbecue picnic on the farm with petting zoo, youth activities, silent auction, music and dancing. There will also be a hog calling contest plus much, much more.

Votes cost $1 apiece or a $5 ticket will enter you in a drawing for a chance to win $1000 in groceries. To vote for Gina Dickson, contact Julie Alves at Arbor Education and Training at 995-9012.
