Lois Evelyn Montgomery passed away in her home in Blue Lakes (Upper Lake), May 4, 2007, at the age of 80. She was born June 10, 1926 in Kansas City, Mo. and was a resident of Belmont for 40 years. Lois attended the University of Missouri at Jefferson City and the University of Missouri at Warrensberg.

She was a global traveler, a columnist who wrote the “Over the Back Fence” column in the Belmont Courier, a moderator at the Congregational Church of Belmont, and was the Past President of the Belmont Woman”s Club, Golden Gate Regional District of Federated Woman”s Club and the Carlmont High School PTA. She served on the Democratic National Committee, the Western Region Democratic Party and served on the campaigns of Bobby Kennedy, Leo Ryan, Joe Holsinger, Diane Feinstein and Jackie Spier. She also served on the Carlmont High School Boosters Club and was an avid baseball fan.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Jefferson Davis Montgomery, Jr.; brother, Alvin Cummins; children, Samuel Montgomery, Theresa Hosking, Valerie Ginsberg and Jeffery Montgomery; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 10 in Belmont, CA.

In lieu of flowers donations to either the Congregational Church of Belmont or to the Federated Woman”s Club preferred.
