COBB — The deceased body of a missing Cobb man was found in the woods behind a golf course subdivision home last month, ending authorities” search.

Robert Walter Lucas, Jr., 43, went missing from his Golf Road home for the second time in 24 hours on Thursday, March 15. In the afternoon hours of Sunday, April 29, his body was found in the woods behind a neighboring home.

Two juveniles had apparently been out for a mid-afternoon walk when they found Lucas” body under a tree, 40 yards from the back porch of the home. Authorities said he appeared to have been there for 45 days.

Lucas reportedly left out the back door of his Cobb home in the midst of a friend”s attempts to help him get help with a drinking problem from which he had been in recovery.

Lucas had been an electrical engineer for a vineyard in Calistoga.

According to Lake County Coroner Assistant Cathleen Froio, a May 1 autopsy confirmed Lucas died of exposure to the elements after he suffered a cardiac event that was a complication of alcohol detoxification.

An LCSO investigation is still underway. A private memorial service was held today.
