KELSEYVILLE — Scott Krohn went 4-for-4 with four RBIs, including a towering shot over the scoreboard in left field, to power the Kelseyville Knights past the Lower Lake Trojans, 14-3, in a North Central League I varsity baseball game on Tuesday at Lloyd Larson Field.
Krohn”s three-run blast highlighted a six-run bottom of the fourth that put the game out of reach at 9-1.
Krohn was drilled by a pitch in his first at-bat and he returned the favor a couple of innings later by drilling a shot onto the street behind the Kelseyville field.
“He was seeing the ball real well today,” Kelseyville coach Morgan Weiper said of his No. 5 hitter. “He was hitting shots down the line foul and he finally just straightened one out.”
Kelseyville (3-4 North, 9-12 overall) banged out 17 hits, so Krohn wasn”t the only Knight who had a good day at the plate.
“All of the kids were hitting the ball today,” Weiper said.
Besides Krohn, Lucas McBride went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Brandon Nielson went 3-for-4, Luis Martinez went 2-for-5 and winning pitcher Jared Templeton went 2-for-5 with a RBI.
On the mound, Temple-ton scattered eight hits and struck out 10.
“He scattered the hits and limited his walks (four) and just threw a lot of strikes today,” Weiper.
Lower Lake (1-6, 5-16) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and held it until Kelseyville rallied for three runs in the third.
“We had some baserunning mistakes that just killed us early on,” Lower Lake coach Chris Denny said. “We could have been up 3-0 instead of 1-0.”
Joel Valencia went 2-for-3 with a double and Jesus Fonseca went 2-for-3 with a RBI for Lower Lake.
