LAKEPORT — The Bay Cities Racing Association DMS Race Products midget car series charges into the Lakeport Speedway on Saturday night. Entries from throughout California are expected to join other cars from Washington, Colorado, Texas and even Amsterdam, Holland, on the paved quarter-mile oval at the Lake County Fairgrounds.
Among the frontrunners will be Lakeport”s own Eric Mostin, who is vying for his third BCRA midget feature triumph at Lakeport. Mostin previously won twice at Lakeport in 2004.
Other drivers to watch include 16-year-old BCRA points leader Justin Grant of Ione, piloting the No. 30 car; reigning two-time BCRA champion John Sarale of Stockton in his No. 32 car; Colorado”s Levi Roberts, who will be behind the wheel of the No. 2 car; and seven-time BCRA champion Floyd Alvis in his No. 18 car.
Gunning for an unprecedented eighth BCRA championship, Alvis currently rests second in BCRA Midget series points, 85 points behind Grant.
Adding some international spice, Holland”s Laura Poorter is entered, driving the No. 60 car.
The BCRA vintage midgets, Late Models, mini-stocks and bombers will join the BCRA midgets on Saturday.
