On May 30, 2007 Frank Metzler went home peacefully to be with the Lord.

He was born into a wonderful Christian family of seven children in Burlington, Kan. In 1942 he moved to Southern California, where he lived until he moved to Lakeport in 1990, with his wife, Carol. Frank and Carol were married in Kauai, Hawaii and just celebrated their silver anniversary.

Frank was a loyal employee of Transit Mixed Concrete and retired after 25 years with a perfect safety record.

He was active in Lakeport Kiwanis, where he was treasurer for two years. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Kelseyville. He loved ice cream, strawberries and his wife in that order. His interests include water and snow skiing, listening to Gospel and Country music and playing cards with his friends and family.

Frank will be especially remembered for his warm smile, his sweet, gentle spirit and mischievous sense-of-humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

Frank is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol; brothers, Glenn (Norma) and Roger (Elyse); sister, Shirley Johnson (Richard); sons, Gary of Michigan and Gregg (Lori) of Washington; daughters, Gale Garfield (Tom), Gwen (Steve) of Brea and stepdaughter Marilyn (Tony) of New Mexico; 12 grandchildren, one great-grandson and another great-grandbaby to arrive in November.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Olive Hope; brothers, Johnny and George (Hazel); sister, Mildred Hendricks (Marvin); and stepson, Stephen Hull (Debra).
