Leonard B White Jr. was born in Houston, Texas on March 12, 1921 and died on March 6, 2007 in Sacramento.
He joined the Marines just after the Battle of Midway and was assigned to the security battalion at Pearl Harbor Naval Base, where he advanced to the rank of sergeant. After completing his military service, he was employed by the Rural Electrification Administration to build electrical infrastructure for rural Americans. White then joined the Overseas Craftsmen Association and worked extensively overseas during his entire career. During the Vietnam War, he worked as an electrical field engineer at Nha Trang Air Base and as plant supervisor at Da Nang Air Base. He was able to evacuate his Vietnamese family right before the fall of Saigon and helped other Vietnamese family members immigrate to the United States.
White is survived by loving family members, Thuha Vo, wife, Elizabeth White; sister Doris Owen; Aunt Lucy Ann Vo; son, Bradley White and Sophie Koot; daughters, Mary Alta Heinze and husband Lon; Lynn Richie and husband Charles, Lisa Simmons, Lucy Cioe and her husband Rob; Thu Nguyen and her husband Tien; Thuy Huyuh and her husband Hiep; Maichi Vo Phan and her husband Huy; grandchildren, Guy Wade III, Trent Wade, Tamara Wade; Robin Stewart, Charlene and Charles; Anthony Nguyen, Kevin Nguyen, Nicole Nguyen, Jake Cioe, Andrew Cioe, Luke Cioe, Karena Phan, Jennifer and Zachary Hawley; and great-grandchildren, Liz, Nicole, Dustin, Koryn, Kristian, Samatha and Sierra.
