Helen Walkley, age 84, passed away May 31, 2007 in Lakeport, after a brief illness. She was born April 18, 1923 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Vaclav and Ruzena Melsa.
Helen met and married Samuel Walkley while volunteering for the USO in Iowa.
She competed in Gymnastics for Sokol, a Czechoslovakian organization, and was a cancer survivor of 60 years. Helen retired from Wells Fargo Mortgage Company after 27 years of service. She moved to Lake County in 1990.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Cheryl; grandchildren, Shawn and Greg; and great-grandson Alex.
