The rest of our community deserves to know about one of their own. During the Triathlon 101 Sunday, I volunteered to be a flagger and was assigned to the corner of Crystal Lake Way and Keeling Ave for the run (and last) phase of the event.
We showed early, were given our assignments and off we went to our respective corner to flag. I was teamed up with CHP Officer Dennis Ray out of the Ft. Bragg office. We had a great day visiting and chatting it up with the runners, neighbors driving through to and from church and locals in the area.
Abut mid afternoon, one of the local neighbors, Vickie, came out and asked if she could make us a turkey sandwich since she”d noticed we”d been there since early morning. We politely declined but she asked again, and of course ,we said thank you and yes, we would. Vickie brought out two of the finest turkey sandwiches we”ve had in a long time. Officer Ray and I thank you Vickie, whomever you are.
Nice folks live in Lakeport, and it shows.
