KELSEYVILLE — Former Kelseyville High School standout swimmer Brenna Sullivan is one of only 10 athletes from Northern California to be selected as a California surf lifeguard this year.
Sullivan, a 2005 Kelseyville High graduate, will attend a 10-day training camp on June 9-18 at Huntington Beach. Applicants competed for spots at the camp with a 1,000-yard ocean swim and a combination run-swim-run in the surf at Monterey Bay.
While at the camp, Sullivan will be instructed in surf rescue and emergency medical training. she also will go through a rigorous training regimen. Lifeuards from the camp patrol beaches and guard swimmers throughout Northern California.
Sullivan also competed in cross country at Kelseyville High. Prior to that, she swam for the Lake County Channel Cats swim team. She”s finishing up her sophomore year at U.C. Santa Cruz, where she is a member of the swim team.
