LOWER LAKE — The Konocti school board will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its new high school gymnasium, 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 20.

At its Wednesday, June 6, meeting, the school board approved a low bid by REM Construction for $7.5 million. A total of five contractors submitted bids for the job and REM Construction”s was the low bid according to figures compiled by Mary Massingill. The sealed bids were opened on May 31.

The gymnasium, when it is completed, will occupy 23,415 square feet and will seat 1,200 people. Funding has been allocated in the Facilities Master Plan for Measure G.

An ice cream social follows the groundbreaking.
