LAKEPORT — Auto racing returns to the Lakeport Speedway tonight as the “King of the Hill Challenge Series” continues at the quarter-mile paved oval, which is located at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Lakeport.

Both of the series” premiere divisions, the modifieds and Airport Auto Brokers Late Models, join the mini-stocks, bombers and the Pro-4 modifieds.

Three-time Lakeport Speedway modified champion Terry McIntire of Kelseyville is the current leader with a 52-point lead over Jeremy Nowlin, also from Kelseyville. Cobb Mountain driver Codi Barba sits in third only six points behind Nowlin.

Lucerne”s Forrect Keucker is out in front in the Late Model points race, followed by Jeremy Donahoo of Finley, who is only 17 points behind. John Dalerio of Ukiah trails Donahoo by 12 points, and Lucerne”s Charlie Collins is in fourth place.

Competition is close in the Guy Strohmeier bomber and bonus bomber classes, with the father-and-son team of Ron Duke Sr. and Ron Duke Jr. running one-two in the bomber division, and Andy Vanderveer of Santa Rosa out in front in the bonus bomber division.

Gates open tonight at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors (62 and over), and $5 for kids (6-11). A special family pass is available for $28.
