UPDATED:

I recently attended a few graduation ceremonies. I was shocked to see graduates walking the stage barefoot, wearing flip-flops, and trophies stuck on top of their caps.

How tacky and absolutely disrespectful to the meaning of graduation, the family and friends in attendance, and to the school as well as the students themselves.

Where is the administration? How do their school board members feel about this? Graduating high school is an honor and an accomplished goal that has taken four years of hard work to complete.

It is not meant to be a circus sideshow. The students as well as the staff should show some pride for the school and their accomplishments. I am not against anyone wearing flip-flops or walking around bare-footed, but graduation is not the venue for this relaxed attire.
