I agree with Karan Mackey”s letter in yesterday”s Record-Bee (“Area near Natural High should keep Open Space designation,” June 20).
If that area is covered with a hotel which is what I know most of the City Council is wanting there will be only the Library Park available for the public. That may possibly sound adequate even though it is only one square block, but we all need to realize that is for the entire area between the county park in Finley and Rodman Slough near Upper Lake.
That is definitely not enough.
I live in Lakeport, and every time I pass the Natural High area, I see people there walking their dogs, kids playing sports, etc. It is used on a daily basis by local people as well as tourists. There are also annual events there, such as the fly-in, several carnivals and craft fairs, etc. Please don”t deprive us of this open space!
