The City of Clearlake bid farewell to Interim Chief of Police Larry Todd, and his wife Valarie, on Thursday, June 28. Todd was presented with a proclamation commemorating his service to city and his wife received a bouquet of flowers.

Mayor Judy Thein had many kind words for Todd in his departure. “In six short months, you were able to set the foundation for our police department to which our new chief of police and his department will be able to build our future,” Thein said. “Larry, you are leaving behind a legacy for which you will be remembered. You will be remembered for showing us all how to take a negative and find the positive.”

Todd”s services were obtained in December 2006 through the League of California Cities, which limits his employment availability to six months annually. During his service with the Clearlake Police Department he directed the revision of policies and procedures of the department personnel, reorganized the community patrol to form the Volunteers In Policing (VIP) program; and assisted in the recruitment and hiring of the new Chief of Police, Allan McClain.

“Although we will be saying good-bye to you this evening, our light will always burn bright for you here in the City of Clearlake,” Thein stated. “On behalf of the city council, police department, city staff and the community, our sincere appreciation to you for a job well done.”
