KELSEYVILLE – Another accident at the intersection of Highway 29 and Red Hills Road/Highway 281 broke the legs of the driver and resulted in an ongoing DUI investigation.
Alyce Schmadeke was headed south in a gray Honda early Sunday morning when she hit the horse trailer attached to the back of an apparently broken down Chevy truck that was parked partially in the lane, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer Adam Garcia.
Schmadeke”s car spun out and rolled, ejecting her. She was taken by REACH Air Ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial hospital, reportedly with both legs broken.
The horse trailor took minor to moderate injury, and whether or not it was occupied was not reported, said Garcia. No injuries were reported for the occupant of the truck, said Garcia.
Schmadeke was arrested for a DUI and released to the hospital, where she was contacted by Santa Rosa CHP. Officer Joe Wind of the Clear Lake Area CHP is heading up the ongoing investigation.
