A little girl that we know got hit by a car while riding her bike on our street Saturday. While the ambulance was coming, I thought about our neighbor”s little girl whose tiny puppy was hit and killed last year by a speeding car. Next door to them, lives a little boy who had the sweetest orange cat who no longer comes to visit because – you guessed it – he was hit and killed by a car driving too fast to see him.

We live on Lake Street in Lower Lake, where there are two schools. Parents of the children, who go to our schools, drive so fast to get their children to school on time. We walk to school and are sometimes frightened by the speed and how close the cars come to us in the morning.

Because of these serious things, please consider slowing down a bit while you are driving on our street. Perhaps when school starts again, you can leave a little earlier when driving your child to school? And remember, a late slip isn”t the worst thing in the world. Thank you.
