LAKE COUNTY – A call early Saturday morning from the Glenn County Sheriff”s Office led Lake County deputies to find the remains of a man identified only as an adult male near a charred pick up near the Lake-Glenn county line.

According to a Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) press release, the truck was parked in the creek bed of Corbin Creek, and had been destroyed by fire. The deceased man was lying nearby, also in the creek bed, states the release. Lt. Cecil Brown of the LCSO confirmed that neither were found in the water.

The Glenn County Sheriff”s Department reported that a hunter had found the remains and the vehicle in the creek, just inside Lake County.

Brown explained that the body was so badly decayed that immediate identification was not possible. The department may use DNA samples and dental records to that end. Brown said he believes the case may be related to a Lake County missing persons case, but won”t know for sure until the body is positively identified.

Results from an out of county autopsy on Wednesday are not back yet, said Brown. A Coroner”s investigation is ongoing into the cause of death.
